The GrIStuF program is one week full of thematic and cultural highlights! You will spend your days listening to various Input Lectures, shedding new light upon our topic, and introducing you to interesting people and their ideas. You will also discuss, create and develop your own ideas during the Workshops. The evenings are reserved for our cultural program: Movie Screening, Parties, Concerts, and much more. Be prepared for an amazing, colorful program!!
The program is currently being created for you with all our love and will leave you just the right kind of exhausted: happy and full of new ideas. Find out more to the right (cultural and thematic program).
GrIStuF's first and foremost goal is to connect people from around the world and enable them to discuss current and important social, economcial, political end ecological issues. A big part of this is knowledge and a safe space to discuss, learn from each other and form opionions. During GrIStuF 2020 "From Ego to Echo - Creating Ideas for Collective Change" you will be able to do exactly that in your workshop and numerous other thematic events.
Because we all need a change of scenery from time to time, Monday will take you out of your workshop rooms and mix up your schedule. Have you seen a documentary that you want to recommend? Did you notice anything in the news that you would like to share? Would you like to give a lecture on a topic that interests you? The stage is yours! It is a brilliant opportunity to exchange and discuss ideas with all the participants regardless of their workshop choice. The team at the info point will be thrilled to help you with all the needed materials to deliver your topic and shed light on a different facet of our main topic.
Our Input Lectures are an addition the the diverse range of workshops and will introduce this year's festival topic to a wider audience. Participants and people from Greifswald can attend the evening lectures to hear and learn about stories that echo throughout society. We will invite guests from near and far who will share their work, ideas and experiences.
During our festival we will provide you with an excursion to the surrounding area of Mecklenburg-Pomerania. The goal of the excursion is not to have some touristic break but to show you how the festival topic is already beeing implemented in the region around Greifswald.
During this excursion we would like to show you the life in our region and how it has been affected by e. g. political, environmental or social developments. You will get the chance to meet people that stand behind a specific organisation or ideology. They took the chance to become active and in making the decision to be involved, they matured into an participative member of society and with that tried to modelate the Mecklenburg-Pomerania we now inhabit.
This excursion is a chance to get inspired, become pro-active members of your society and take some ideas back home with you.
On the last day of the festival, everything that has been discussed, worked out and practised in the workshops will be presented. Here Participants will get the opportunity to see what the other workshops have worked on, present their own results, and give the citizens of Greifswald an insight into the festival topic. During this final event, we bring the festival to a close and conserve ideas for the future. We can’t wait to hear and see what GrIStuF 2020 will bring!
Culture can be broad, culture can be diverse; culture is of central importance to the society we live in. Culture shows us our differences and also brings us together. At GrIStuF, we aim to bring us all closer together through our cultural events. Just as diverse as our cultures are, will our events be as well.
We hope to get you out of your comfort zone, to make you participate but also to enjoy what we planned for you during this week.
After being welcomed at our official opening, meeting you teamers and receiving a first thematic input, we warmly invite you to join our Welcome Evening. This event is a chance to get together and get to know each other better, while listening to a small concert. Enjoy, relax and feel the Greifswald summer spirit.
Participants! Take the stage. This event is a chance for all participants to present their countries and cultures. There will be food, music and live performances from all over the world. We look forward to seeing what you bring!
One of themost remarkable cultural events during GrIStuF 2020 will be a movie night. Together with our friends from “Kino auf Segeln” (Cinema on Sails) we will show a movie at the beautiful Greifswalder Museumswerft. This won't be an ordinary cinema experience. Weather conditions permitting, the movie will be shown outdoors, and the screen will be the sail of one of their historic boats, against the backdrop of the city skyline and the beautiful, historic dockyard.
Eat your way through the kitchens of Greifswald and the world! Running Dinner means three different kitchens with six different teams - heaps of yumminess and new people. How does it work? You start at 6 pm in the kitchen with the starter; at 8 pm you change location to the next kitchen to have the main dish. At 10 pm you finish with desert in the third kitchen. One of those kitchens is yours, so you provide one of the dishes together with your team members who can be your hosts, but also other festival guests or students of Greifswald. Which dish you are going to cook is randomly decided by our quantum supercomputer. This is the chance to introduce some food from your home country, or just to present your favourite recipe. You should register for this event quickly! Registration is at the Info Point of the festival centre until noon of Sunday 7th of June.
As if an evening with a gorgeous dinner wasn’t enough, we invite you to the Running Dinner Party starting at 11 pm. (You are still most welcome to join, even if you haven’t participated) You can dance off all those calories to the hottest beats around, presented to you by the best DJ’s in town.
The last cultural contribution of the GrIStuF 2020 will give you once again a chance to come together and celebrate the wonderful week that will lay behind us. We learned to move away from and egocentric viewpoint to a more global way of thinking. We learned about the importance of participating and taking a stand in this world. Before you depart, however, we invite you to join our Farewell Party and say good-bye to GrIStuF 2020.
